Dear Reader,
Thank you for visiting this contemporary Food Blog from the small and beautiful North-East Indian state of Tripura.
Fresh homecooked food, memories and stories related to food that I have treasured and cherished forever, find some unheard and unsual delicacies in this humble blog dedicated to all you Food lovers along with recipes from other regions as well as round the globe.
A Big Hello from this ordinary homecook born in Silchar, Assam and raised in Agartala, capital city of Tripura, currently based in Pune, Maharashtra, India.
Distance from my hometown, some of the traditional Mom-cooked Manipuri community food that I miss eating, unavailability of fresh seasonal produces indigenous to my region gave me a reason to try cooking my community cuisines with locally available produces and share some of my community as well as indigenous recipes from my home state Tripura through my blog Pushpita’s Chakhum from time to time.
Until then happy reading and happy cooking!
~ Pushpita Aheibam.

Thanks Alka! Glad to know you liked the blog. Manipuri cuisines has spices and ingredients similar to Bengali and Odia cuisines. Manipuri cuisines of Manipuris living outside Manipur get a local taste due to a multicultural background. We make use of local herbs too in most of the delicacies.

Hi, It was lovely going through your blog. I landed here searching for your Manipuri Tan, which I understand is basically same as Luchi. Had a wonderful time reading through your traditional dishes..when you get time do confirm on the Tan recipe..thanks

Hello Srivalli!
Tan is a generic term for any flat bread not a specific term. Hope this helps 😊😊
